March 2023 is undoubtedly shaping up to be the most eventful month of the year (though not the most intense) as Saturn looms on the cusp of entering Pisces, and Pluto’s imminent dip into Aquarius is just a few weeks away. Amidst these epic and transformative transits, we must prepare for the massive shifts that will occur during the Equinox, marked by the first of two consecutive Aries New Moons on the world axis (0º 49′Aries). The second New Moon will be our first eclipse for the year – a Hybrid Solar at the anaretic (29º Aries), coinciding with ruler Mars shifting signs. Our most recent cosmic bus episode delves deeper into these events, but for now, let us focus on this last lunation in the astrological year.

FULL MOON

The Full Moon on March 7, 2023, will take place at 16°40′ of Virgo, directly opposite the Sun in Pisces. This powerful alignment represents the delicate balance between the practical and mystical, the analytical and intuitive, the tangible and intangible aspects of our lives. The Pisces Sun encourages us to transcend the physical world’s limitations and expand our consciousness into the boundless realms of dreams and the quantum universe, where magic, mystery, ascended beings, and extraterrestrial entities reside. However, it may also pique our curiosity about our ‘sacred’ contracts, vagueish notions of ‘God’ and ‘Spirit’, that lie beneath all knowledge and convey abstract, incomprehensible, far-reaching concepts of faith that are simply impossible to grasp.

At this Full Moon, the Pisces Sun is flanked by Mercury and Neptune, the ruler of Pisces, at the end of his domicile. This midpoint configuration creates a delicate balance of psychic sensitivity, wild imaginings, and empathy but also implies vulnerability to moods, deception, and wishful or misguided thinking. A preponderance of mixed feelings, much talk about spiritual evolution, and a deep concern about how spiritually evolved and conscious we are, especially regarding the universal principle of unconditional love and acceptance, leaves us with high hopes.

However, there is considerable detail missing on how to make exorbitantly idealistic notions actually happen, especially during the current ubiquitous state of global crises and emergencies. More personally, this poses significant challenges in our relationships, which, while they can aspire to greater compassion and understanding between the individual and his/her world, there doesn’t appear to be much of a plan, just a lot of nitpicking about what’s not working, blameshifting and fingerpointing. There is an obvious avoidance or evasion in dealing with the practical matters and step-by-step duties inherent in any well-functioning system.

Meanwhile, Saturn, the hard-ass Lord of Karma, is heaving his last gasp in Aquarius. In the next 24 hours, we will witness the door closing on this chapter and a new one beginning. With the ageing curmudgeon’s arrival, Piscesland will never be quite the same again.

The Full Moon in Virgo poses us with a critical moment, a distinctly intense point in time when we must wrestle with our conscience to bring our highest, most altruistic and sacrificial aspirations into some semblance of order and practical application. Yes, it is special and sacred to be inspired by spirituality, art, literature, classical mythology, or fields of humanitarian endeavour, but unless these are brought into some down-to-earth, practicable complex of tasks and routine, they will escape serving any valid purpose, both to our individual selves and to others.

Hence, this is a time to either marry the sublime and fantastically florid beliefs into mundane utilisation or make a decision to untether and expunge ourselves from any relationship which only siphons away our rational energies. This Full Moon in Virgo reminds us that we need to restore the balance between our spiritual and practical lives. While it is great to have high-minded ideals and lofty goals, it is equally important to ground them in the real world and take appropriate steps towards achieving them.

Of course, Full moons aren’t just moments of startling realisations and prompts for critical change in our personal lives; they can also mark the end of relationships and the shattering of illusions. When the turmoil of our inner or outer world cannot be reconciled, we must come to terms with the harsh truth that certain things are irreparable and beyond compromise. At these junctures, separations become inevitable.

It’s time to face the uncomfortable truth that we cannot just rely on spiritual platitudes and idealistic theories to solve the complex problems we face as a society. We cannot simply hope and pray for the best while ignoring the practical steps required to make positive change.

We must stop procrastinating, stop making excuses, and start taking action towards creating a better world. This Full Moon in Virgo demands that we bring our spirituality down to earth and start paving concrete steps towards creating a better world for ourselves and those around us.

So enough with the bypassing, apathy, escapism, lies and self-delusions, the dumbing of ourselves with substances and silly diversions. We must embrace life’s practical, tangible, and functional aspects and integrate them into our spiritual practices. It’s time to recognise that true spirituality is not just about ‘high-vibe’ diatribes or wishful mumbo jumbo about being enlightened; it’s about taking action and making a positive impact in the world.

So let this Full Moon be a wake-up call to all of us. It’s time to take responsibility for our lives, our relationships, and our planet. It’s time to start living with purpose, intention, and action towards creating a better world. The choice is ours – will we continue to live in a ‘new-age’ bubble of escapism and avoidance, or will we rise to the challenge and start creating a better world for ourselves and future generations?
