I know you're tired, existentially deflated and at least a little confused about what's going on, so I don't want to add more stress to an already tedious situation, but this current mid-eclipse Quarter Moon poses a genuine pressure test that we're all somehow having to face.
What began at the Leo Solar Eclipse (August 12) now meets tremendous resistance. Emotional discomfort, power struggles, mounting frustration about the state of our precious world and our most prized relationships are super high. That increasingly desperate feeling that something must be done simply to preserve whatever integrity we have left is real. But do what? What exactly are you supposed to do when everything around you appears destabilised and in a truly desperate state?
At this point, most of us seem to be oscillating between two states: frantically trying to hold the whole damned thing together, or becoming so despondent and powerless that we are beginning to recognise that no amount of personal effort is going to prevent this world from sliding into its own strange, spectacular state of chaos.
In just over a week, the Pisces Lunar Eclipse squared by Uranus poses a sudden, forced awakening to the fact that we, as a species, are rapidly losing our grip on the very systems we once imagined secured our mastery over this planet. A tight yod forming of the combust Mercury on the Virgo Sun indeed warrants extreme care in where we place our judgement and the decisions we make to preserve our viability and usefulness in a rapidly changing world.
What bothers me most happens immediately after the Lunar Eclipse, when on 1 September, Mars and Saturn close into their first quarter square, a crisis in action that carries some considerably nasty machinery. With both malefics in fall: a cantankerous Mars in Cancer, who cannot act without dragging fear, past grievances or ultradefensiveness into the situation and Saturn in Aries showing little patience and likely to get aggressive when something refuses to obey, things have the potential of escalating to uncontrollable proportions, especially given Mars is also out of bounds, as is Pluto, and Mars and Pluto are tightly connected by declination.
Such energies can feel enormously debilitating, a peculiar mixture of apathy and this almost unbearable urge to do something real and meaningful.
Mars square Saturn is force meeting something that simply will not move. You push. Nothing. You push harder. Still nothing. Under better circumstances, this can give extraordinary stamina, the capacity to work through difficulty and keep going long after everyone else has collapsed. But look at the condition of these planets. Frustration can become retaliation remarkably quickly. Injury, cruelty, reckless force, people deciding the answer to resistance is more force.
The Pisces Lunar Eclipse is sure to reveal how incapable we are of containing what is about to come through, and what happens when the structures we have been fighting so hard to preserve prove unmanageable by mere human force. Hence, this eclipse, the last to fall in Pisces, deserves special attention, and in this cosmic bus episode, Ang takes a closer look at where we are indeed travelling.
