The collective zeitgeist is running on appetite. People want more from life, more love, more recognition, more freedom, and immediate proof that they really matter. Any form of restraint feels intolerable. Everything carries dire emotional urgency, and the hunger underneath everyone's stated principles is getting harder to disguise.
Relationships have become pressure chambers. Who holds the power, who gives more, who gets the attention, whose needs run the show, whether affection has turned transactional; all of it surfaces now. Attraction and irritation sit so close together that people feel pulled towards someone while resenting what the desire exposes in them. Money, sex, loyalty, status and creative ownership all become proxies for one question: Do you value me, and what am I prepared to do if you do not?
The geopolitical world mirrors the same psychology. Leaders and prominent figures perform confidence at full volume while audiences grow sharper at detecting vanity, manipulation and entitlement. The crowd wants to be inspired, then turns merciless the moment it smells fraudulence. Admiration contains accumulated resentment. A person can be elevated, exposed and repudiated inside the same emotional cycle.
Moral overreach thickens the air. Anger dresses itself as principle. Desire presents itself as destiny. Personal grievances harden into ideological positions. People and institutions push harder, convinced that the intensity of their certainty gives them the right to force an outcome. The result is crusading behaviour, grand promises, inflated claims and confrontations wildly out of proportion to whatever started them.
Information moves faster than reflection. Leaks, accusations and sudden disclosures travel before anyone has time to think. A fragment of news becomes the spark for an argument that was already waiting for an excuse. Rumour gains authority when it confirms what people already suspect or want to believe. Language turns theatrical, persuasive and slippery; facts get filtered through loyalty, fear, desire and resentment.
All fashion and glamour is collapsing under inspection. Attractive stories, charismatic figures, romantic ideals and collective fantasies are all being tested against lived reality. Something may look progressive, loving or visionary while concealing exploitation, vanity or control. The gap becomes impossible to ignore. Disillusionment arrives fast when the fantasy has been sustained by emotional investment rather than evidence.
All of this produces a strange mixture of exhilaration and exhaustion. Genuine celebration, creative breakthroughs, powerful attraction, important alliances, a renewed appetite for experience; these are real. But the same intensity turns manic. Too much spending, promising, confessing, fighting, performing, demanding. People overextend emotionally and materially, then discover that enthusiasm has outrun capacity.
With Pluto driving this last Full Moon before the eclipse, the detachment factor can become emotional sorcery. You may tantalise, provoke and manipulate while withholding any genuine investment. Similarly, institutions proclaim their concern for humanity while reducing individual lives to data, ratings, demographics and manageable units. The rising new techno-feudalism adores the collective because collectives can be more easily categorised, predicted and controlled. Actual people are messy little prima donnas hung up on feelings.
Our work is to bring the vision back down to the person. To connect intelligence with feeling. To reclaim our attention, recognise the primal need beneath our recent dehumanising behaviour, and understand that detachment means freedom from compulsion, rather than abandonment of connection.
Can you express yourself, your agency, feel recognised without turning everyone into your muppet audience? Could you claim to give a fuck about humanity while struggling to stay present with that one difficult, demanding human being?
