It’s Full Moon time again—a window for reflection and self-examination under the Capricorn Sun’s stern, unflinching glare. Here, we’re pressed to take a long, hard look at ourselves with brutal honesty. But can we? We are especially touchy with the Moon in her Cancer domicile; our defences are wafer-thin beneath a tough exterior that may crumble all too easily.

Not too far off is Mars skulking back from Leo, retrograde and crestfallen, sensing the full brunt of his downfall in Cancer’s all-too-tetchy terrain. He feels cornered, bristling with anger at every remark, ready to lash out at the slightest provocation. Together, these energies create a highly volatile emotional landscape where even a spark of mild criticism is taken personally and can ignite a wildfire of defensiveness.

A T-square to the Full Moon from Eris is particularly vexing. Eris represents raw, unvarnished conflict, powered by envy, competitiveness, and the uncomfortable truths we try to bury but which erupt from time to time, especially when triggered by a lunation. It’s a dynamic that unfurls a lot of suppressed rage over the coming 10 days, which I have taken apart in depth in your empowering horoscopes.. [see links below]. Fortunately, soft aspects from Uranus in Taurus provide some degree of freedom here—all at a hefty price, of course.

Mars’s vulnerability intensifies with a water trine to Neptune and a semisquare to Jupiter in breezy Gemini, making undeserved misfortune especially bitter. Long campaigns of overzealous moral or ideological grandstanding may have left us with broken contracts and lost contacts. Impulsivity fosters carelessness, and in this tense hyper-reactive climate, flimsy excuses won’t smooth over any hasty overreaches. When facts remain half-baked or under-defended, everything risks dissolving into wastefulness.

Meanwhile, a sesquisquare to Venus demands hard work to mend the gaps left by romantic disappointments; and though new faces might come our way, tempting hurried re-entanglements or premature declarations of love, such attempts mean little when rooted in a residue of past hurts. Upcoming squares to Chiron mean a stationing Mars has a lot of healing to do throughout February-March.

For now, Mars’s opposition to the Capricorn Sun on Thursday can unleash explosive conflict if alliances have been neglected, or lead to a hard-won triumph if prior challenges were dealt with wisely. In both cases, not giving in too easily to anger and maintaining a solid working relationship with others is crucial to preserving lessons learned and victories gained.

Shifting gears, Venus, somewhat ‘exalted’ in Pisces, squaring a super-flighty Jupiter in Gemini, stirs up a heady mix of bragging, overspending, and carefree indulgences, which, blown too far and wide, incurs a punishing reality check that’ll hit us like a sledgehammer when the bill arrives. Fail to rein in your appetites, and watch your funds vanish, waistline expand, and admirers mysteriously slip away. By Sunday, she conjoins Saturn, that lead-heavy senior figure whose gravity alone shatters illusions and demands nothing but genuine commitment. Far from doom and gloom, though, it’s a stern wake-up call to front up to realities and grow the fcuk up. Yeah, that’s the drum: Accept the weight of responsibility or watch flaky ideals and flimsy connections collapse under their own weight.
