The last supermoon of 2023 is also the final lunation before this year’s second eclipse season. Falling in the early degrees of Aries, this Full Moon goes head-to-head not just with the guily Libra Sun but also with Pallas Athena, a goddess of wisdom, strategic war manoeuvring and fighting for social justice. That’s a lot of social justice energy packed into one celestial event. The Aries Moon is all about initiating change and embodying raw, untamed spirit (fire). Going head-to-head with the diplomatic Libra Sun and the strategic Pallas Athena, this lunation sets us up for a political battleground.
Things are always coming to a head around the full moon anyway, intense conflicts escalate, seeking resolution or separation. Less than a week after the Equinox, this supermoon is a cosmic firework display of conflicting energies. Aries embodies the pioneering spirit, keen to forge ahead without much thought for subtlety. With the Libra Sun and Pallas Athena in the airy Libra, on the other hand, we witness the diplomats and strategists weighing each move carefully, scheming and preempting every action and reaction with authority.
Clearly, they underestimate the Aries Moon’s volatile and spontaneous energy. This pre-eclipse lunation is a wild card in itself, making the atmosphere palpably unsettling…
VENUS DOMINUS
Venus in Leo, freshly out of retrograde, is all about reclaiming its flamboyant energy in love and relationships. Paired in close conjunction with Juno, the goddess of marriage and commitment, the vibe is heavily tilted towards drama, loyalty, and grand romantic gestures. This can be an augury of stabilising relationships that weathered Venus’ retrograde turmoil. Her rulership over the Libran Sun and Pallas Athena doesn’t end there, although their mutual reception (the Sun rules Leo) ensures that the two are in cahoots, with each supporting and influencing the other’s domain. Along with Pallas Athena, the three are like cosmic co-conspirators, each amplifying the other’s strengths, a tense semisquare creating a powerful triad that influences both personal and social realms.
When Venus is challenged or is overemphasised in the horoscope, a host of interpersonal and self-esteem issues can erupt. Stress spikes due to an insatiable need for validation, leading to dynamics where one becomes an emotional black hole, sucking in all the attention but giving little back. Feelings of being unloved or unappreciated can morph into emotional warfare, derailing relationships and causing rifts. The focus on oneself stunts the growth of genuine interaction, making relationships superficial and transactional.
Financial woes are another beast entirely; impractical tastes and unchecked desires can lead to spending beyond means, tipping the balance of stability. Finally, an obsessive focus on physical appearance could distort self-worth and drain mental energy. All in all, a challenged Venus under siege could make life an emotional and financial rollercoaster, as we shall see.

HARD CRADLE
Venus in Leo exerts influence over Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus, creating a charged atmosphere due to their fixed sign placements. The square between Venus and Uranus is particularly fraught, generating volatility in personal and social domains. While Venus seeks affection and grandeur, Uranus aims to upend the status quo. This tension not only makes for unpredictable relational dynamics but could also incite abrupt fluctuations in financial markets or social values. The stakes are high: unmet desires for love and validation can lead to seismic shifts across various life spheres.
The matter is made even more unnerving with Uranus forming a semisquare to the Aries Supermoon, a paradoxical situation where people fight for freedoms and rights they might be ill-equipped to handle if actually won. Such individuals often appear directionless, uncertain of their true desires. Under such a charged climate, it’s advisable to steer clear of controversy. Emotional responses to sudden changes are typically suppressed by authority figures, adding another layer of complexity to an already volatile environment.
Given that the Aries Supermoon opposes the Libra Sun/Pallas Athena and is linked through two semisquares—one from Venus/Juno to the Sun/Pallas Athena and another from the Moon to Uranus—you have what’s commonly termed a “Hard Cradle.” This astrological formation is dynamic and pushes individuals to address intense conflicts and rigid tensions. It often produces stress or friction that culminates in an event or events serving as a catalyst for dynamic growth.
OTHER STRANGE NONSENSE AND DARK DRAMAS
Mercury in Virgo opposing Neptune in Pisces generates a perplexing fog over communication and information channels. While Mercury in Virgo seeks clarity and precision, Neptune in Pisces clouds the narrative with illusion and ambiguity. This opposition creates a dissonance that can feel like wading through a swamp of misinformation. What is factual and well-defined in Virgoan terms becomes nebulous and open to interpretation under the Piscean influence. Expect a wave of confusion where straightforward data morphs into a murky blend of facts and fiction. The challenge here is to discern reality from illusion, a task made particularly difficult as each planet undermines the other’s clarity.
Venus also forms a sextile to Mars in Libra, over whom she also holds pull. Mars is pretty hopeless in Libra; his assertiveness is undoubtedly compromised by his inability to make a decisive move. It’s like seeing an injustice, an infraction, and knowing you have to do something… anything, but being so crippled by propriety, fearing the fallout from being on the wrong side of any outcome that you decidedly do nothing. Until they come for you, that is…
The most ominous aspect here is the cardinal T-Square involving Mars in Libra on the South Node, opposed by the unpredictable Chiron and the wild Eris on the Aries North Node, both forming a square with the darkly manipulative Pluto in Capricorn. The position of Mars is especially alarming; it sits precisely at the 21º Libra degree, where the Solar Eclipse will manifest in just two weeks. With the Sun equally as debilitated in Libra, it suggests that diplomacy and fence-sitting may not hold up against the raw, confrontational energies at play in Aries, nor darker forces seeking authoritarian control in Capricorn. This formation intensifies existing tensions, suggesting transformative, if not destructive, forces at play. At every level, something must happen, but what.. and by whom? You?? It’s a celestial powder keg awaiting a spark, one that could detonate with the coming eclipse.
