MERCURY’s stationing on an exact square to SATURN (Nov 1-6) brought on a raft of serious realisations that not only hit home in an ego-shattering way, but we’re about to learn the consequences of being too stubbornly tied to traditional ways of thinking.
Mercury now heads into his third (and final) opposition to URANUS (Nov 17), offering a full-scale awareness of how our cultural and political thought patterns have to change.
A disaster – even a severe one like a deadly pandemic, massive social unrest around the globe or a rapidly changing climate forces us to examine the inequality and economic disparities that leave our societies extremely vulnerable to external shocks like the pandemic, and to internal triggers like the killing of George Floyd.
We can expect to experience far more of the kind of unrest we’ve seen this year in the months and years ahead. We know that even a short-term disruption of current financial systems is enough to trip supply chains to a halt.
The current world crises have already provided many of us a glimpse of what happens when societies fail to meet the challenges they face when the governments that rule over them tend solely to their own problems and project only blame and division rather than bringing us together to implement sustainable long-term solutions.
Between the SATURN and URANUS, who will be squaring through much of 2021, are the crumbling ruins of an established world order that now begin to collapse. From this, something else comes into focus: Innovativeness, obstinacy and, perhaps the strongest and most essential human quality, adaptability.
