MERCURY OPPOSITION JUPITER “Saying the Quiet Part Out Loud”

In just 48 hours, Mercury, ruler of communication, will appear to turn retrograde. As back in February, then in May, Mercury will now retrace its steps backwards from an air to an earth sign, as if ideas circulated need grounding.

In this event, Mercury, now stationing near 08°55 LIBRA, has the unfortunate disadvantage of being opposite Jupiter during this period, whose forth-righteous influence from Aries indicates that we are prone to shoot our mouth off, unintentionally disclosing the subtext of a public statement.

Every travesty ever committed has been by ordinary folks trying to sound extraordinary.

Mercury is also the dispositor of Mars (currently in Gemini) and Sun/Venus (currently in Virgo, the latter in mutual reception), adding to the farce and awkwardness created when we speak (or tweet) something that perhaps wasn’t meant to be spake, or pledge something we couldn’t possibly honour.

The farce escalates into an ironic comedy of errors, one Morrissey bluntly crooned as “Bigmouth Strikes Again” on the Smiths 1986 album #TheQueenIsDead.
