Let me just weigh in here with an astro update, since the Aquarian Sun, now besieged (along with a RxMercury) between malefics PLUTO and SATURN doesn’t hold much “hope” for those individuals who hope to stand away from the pack and make it alone, or be part of a resistant ‘minority’ right now. Aquarius is wide-thinking, technologically way more advanced, always about moving the greater team effort forward. Individuals who do best during this time are those who consider how they can benefit the whole crew.
One principle that comes to mind here is that of “utilitarianism”, which asserts that so long as our efforts contribute towards producing a beneficial result for the majority, then they are not only deemed socially and ethically acceptable but justifiable, regardless of the consequences. Grimly, this also means that any act, however cold or gruesome towards those deemed to stand against the majority, is considered defensible if it is for the greater good of ‘the collective’.
You can quickly see how this can be at least a little irksome, if not dauntingly discomfiting for the staunch individualists out there, especially under URANUS in Taurus, who seems determined to disrupt the consensus by maintaining economic, materialistic and physical autonomy against the marching trend towards an organised collective order.
Perhaps it’s best to keep in mind another Aquarian group ideal, that of “communitarianism”, where individual living and individual contributions to small, self-governing communities or extensive family complexes are important. This group ideal allows us to be the best we can be without shutting others out, with emphasis on encouraging the best in everyone, valuing inclusivity and the nuances of individual diversity.
There’s a few other collective ideologies (like Marxist–Leninism, Communist dictatorship, National Socialism, Anarcho-collectivism, Corporatism) which I’d rather not entertain here, since they have not exactly worked out too well (across the board) for individual enterprise or endeavours of the human spirit [see 20th century].
Let’s understand, with Pluto soon entering Aquarius, the gilded days of the celebrated selfish individualist are nearly over. Let’s hold hope that as long as we each continue to do our part willingly and happily, contributing to the common good of our community as dependable and responsible individuals, we shall each find a fruitful way of coexisting again. Going into the Aquarian New Moon, it is a time to plan into this new vision, and know too that this uncomfortable period of social fragmentation will soon, one way or another, be eventually over…
