THIRD QUARTER MOON – Maintaining Integrity in the Face of Social Upheaval

There are times when maintaining one’s integrity best requires that we hold our tongue, play it low-key and exercise our freedom to mind our own business (thereby allowing others to mind theirs).

Remember, you are not a wild animal to be ensnared or enslaved – you are a free human being with an independent will. Regardless of what anyone says, you are not obliged to tolerate that which impinges upon your rightfully equanimous claim upon this earth, and nobody has the power to force you to change your independent will. Nor is it your business to force change upon another’s. Hence, there is no argument here, and you are neither foolish nor forcibly inclined to be enticed or cajoled into such an argument. Simply respect that others right to share their opinions, either agree or disagree and walk away, with your pride and valour intact.

One of my favourite quotes, from back in school:

“They’re certainly entitled to think that, and they’re entitled to full respect for their opinions… but before I can live with other folks I’ve got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn’t abide by majority rule is a person’s conscience.”~ Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

You cannot claim to change any mind under such a locked-in state of fixed T-sq dynamic energies (see chart of 3rd Q Moon above).

Positions of stubbornness are now firmly entrenched, and if you choose to go into a WWI-style battle, then you only risk further division. Remember, after prolonged trench warfare, most of those boys who survived the attrition returned home with MISSING LIMBS – this means that they fought beyond reasonable need and were left divided, even WITHIN themselves.

Let’s stay composed, and stop fighting stupid wars out there. (there’s really nobody out there separate from you). Besides, who can mess with a human being who clearly maintains their dignified composure?

Please take this cue to also give your minds a break from the incessant deluge of oft-opinionated media.
