New planet (or dwarf planet) Eris, discovered in January 2005 is a little smaller than our Moon, slightly larger than Pluto and three times as far from Earth. It has a highly eccentric orbit and a 577-year orbital cycle, and after some observation was named Eris, after the Greek goddess of Strife. Mythologically Eris reigns by producing an air of envy, with can work positively in that it creates an air of competition but her shadow side produces drudgery in work, as well as feelings of neglect, rejection, sorrow, states of starvation, deprivation, bickering, quarrels, disputes & hoaxes, chaos & anarchy to the point of annihilation and extinction. She also rules over Oath, which causes immense strife when men swear upon it untruthfully.
ERIS sits there all alone, beyond the perimeters of even the most distant wastelands of consciousness. She’s been denied entry to the contest, shut out, left behind, forgotten and forlorn for far too long.
But not for long. Her imminent conjunction to MARS warns of danger – that the things we have neglected and ignored will soon return with added force and vengeance.
So, as an astrologer, I’ve been anticipating this moment all year, knowing that once we cross this line, the aeons of suppressed darkness and rage threaten to explode and run rampant. Much has been neglected and, like the proverbial elephant in the room, we have found the most insipid ways to ignore and distract from the most obvious of ills.
The crap we put up with during the age of Pisces simply won’t wash in Aquarius, and in an instant, the current planetary alignment – with all outers in Rx, the Sun and Moon dignified but stressed, harkens us back to our own childhood, wherein neglect, ignorance and abandonment were all part of the landscape of life.
How much longer till we rise up and say “enough!”?
You took the words right out of my mouth
