Eris introduces terrible strife and striving, contest & contention (discord) among each species, and since many more individuals are born than can possibly survive; we are cast, from time to time, into nature’s recurring struggle for survival.
It makes sense then, due to the complex and sometimes diversifying conditions of life, that some may be naturally selected over others. Depending largely on their inherited traits, the most dominant variety will tend to survive and propagate its novel, modified form.
As with any contest, “to the victor go the spoils”, although what’s left is not always without the customary devastation.
