THE WEEK AHEAD: Aug 19-25

Another super-engaging week awaits us, with a swathe of inner planets heading out of bombastic Leo, past super-star Regulus and into virtuous Virgo. This means that the fun and games are just about over and it’s nearly time to get back to the important business of taking better care of ourselves.

In the second half of August we must try to put everything we experience into some practical perspective. As the Sun and planets enter Virgo, all kinds of worries and concerns which plague our world, both inner and outer, will start to manifest. We start to see the unsightly details and sordid loose ends more clearly, and either set about to work more diligently on tending to these, or ignore them only at our peril.

But where to start? Especially when it all seems like such a mess.

In a series of occultations, formed monthly in 2019 by the Capricorn Moon to Saturn and Pluto, we see a world spiraling further towards chaos. Not only does this augur great potential for humanitarian and geopolitical horror, but the astrological prediction is that unless we each step up to taking some kind of social responsibility, mundane circumstances on this planet will continue to exacerbate for our global society. Desperately needed ‘sustainable’ solutions in the overall structure and intent of government (state, corporation) are vital before these will show any signs of improvement.

According to the intensification of the Saturn/Pluto conjunction (Jan 2020), made ever so personal by the Moon’s occultations, it will not be long before worldwide trends set the stage for a complete collapse of current dysfunctional structures. This means a general ‘taking down’ of many who turn a blind eye or refuse to respond to serious calls for evolutionary changes.

Saturn not only meets Pluto (death and regeneration) in a conjunction, but three (3) ensuing squares from Pluto in Capricorn to Eris (strife and discord) throughout 2020 augur a time when all seems fair game in the contest for ‘survival of the fittest’. Here, it is not the wealthiest, sexiest, most powerful individuals who will withstand the test for survival, but the most flexible and adaptable to massive shifts. Those who possess a capacity to effectively transform themselves to meet the huge evolutionary demands of these times will also manage to ‘upgrade’ themselves enough to inherit the new earth.

This shift will happen on several different levels, but we are called upon to awaken to the grim reality of what is going on around us and to take action. In the tense build-up, the geopolitical turbulence we will see between now and the next 18 months highlights increasingly how compliantly the world is being run by oligarchs and demagogues, whose oceanic ignorance is matched only by their gargantuan egos.

North Korea’s nuclear program and ballistic missile testing continues relentlessly, despite repeated pleas by the USA and S.Korea to cease. The prospect of a two-state solution in Israel and Palestine is the most remote it has been in decades. Bullying tensions by America over Iran keep escalating, alluding to an imminent invasion. Relations between Japan and South Korea have completely broken down. The Pentagon warns that ISIS in Syria is starting to resurge. The U.K. faces serious food shortages if its promised “Brexit” from the European Union provides no contingent ongoing agreement.

In the United States, we observe how the ever more erratic, amoral and arguably incoherent foreign policy reforms of its characteristically Uranean president, whose systematic undermining of key global alliances and hollowing out of its diplomatic and national security infrastructure exposes the entire nation (and the world) to tremendous turmoil.

Donald Trump’s instinctive sympathy for authoritarian-style leaders continues to empower them diplomatically. Internally, conspiracy theories abound around the strange ‘suicide’ of Jeffrey Epstein – a convicted pedophile who leaves questions over his alleged grooming of minors for the sexual abuse of key members of the elite has shaken further trust in an already corroded system.

Random mass shootings by so-called ‘white nationalist terrorists’ continue at alarmingly more frequent regularity without being adequately investigated, dividing the nation on issues like mental health and gun laws. It seems that many have grown so used to ignoring political lies and hypocrisy that this dissociation has now reached a state of cultural hypernormalisation. As a result, shady deals and microaggressions between the US, Russia, Israel, North Korea and the Middle East continue in plain sight without any check, since any criticism or whistleblowing of questionable foreign policy is immediately silenced.

China continues to show no restraint on protesters in Hong Kong, appearing to be preparing for a Tiananmen Square-like crackdown. India and Pakistan, who have already fought two wars over the Himalayan territory of Kashmir rekindle their conflict, effectively placing nearly seven million people in the region under virtual house arrest. Meanwhile, the entire panet, already under huge threat of climate change and erosion of species, may be seriously lurching towards signs of economic recession.

What to do about all this?

What else to do but look after yourself. Do your best to be your utmost best and to help change your ways as best you can. To think that you can change the world by worrying and social media gossip is pointless and only leads to anxiety and depression. Tending first to your own, personal divinity is essential for truly improving yourself. If the Leo season has taught us one thing, it is that demonstrating genuine, authentic sovereignty and love for yourself opens the stargate of your heart; the gateway of opportunity to any world that you wish to travel to or create within.

By the end of this week, Mars, then Venus, and the Sun move into Virgo. Personal energy starts becoming channeled into fastidious reasoning, finding flaws, and service to others.

This doesn’t necessarily sit well with everyone, since Virgo’s insistence for self-discipline, technical aptitude, and unselfish actions are quite cutthroat in their practicality and execution.

High levels of criticism and a tendency to interfere in matters where there is often no invitation or call may cause some degree of resentment, especially in intimate relationships. Nit-picking and clutching at straws over trifling matters can be rather unhelpful and actually kills the momentum and good will. This is not helpful towards organising collective cooperation for mass movements – like peaceful activism for climate change and social reform – which actually require a sustained collaboration from everyone to form any serious opposition. Analysis and excessive reasoning, especially where mass movement is needed to maintain its velocity to stir up momentum, negates the aim to achieve any desired big picture results.

So here we see the classic scenario common to Virgo – an insistence on ‘efficiency‘ interfering with the ‘effectiveness‘ of what we’re trying to achieve.

The Sun’s ingress into Virgo occurs precisely at the critical Gemini Last Quarter MOON (Aug 23). Here a tight stellium forms with every inner planet (T-squaring asteroid Ceres). All these energies are ruled by Mercury, charging this quarter lunation with an almost entirely sterile state of emotional insensuality.

It is here that a state of disregard and disinterest in abstraction presses us to deal with the more immediately practical necessities with a sense of self-denying diligence. If we look at the state of our external, or social world, we that nothing could possibly satisfy our physical desires unless we first get down to the business of doing our utmost to ‘fix’ our inner selves. Better self-care means tending to health, diet, exercise, work and daily routine. These will surely improve our outer world.

Virgo, rules the digestive system (the gut), which includes the intestines, and spleen. The gut is the seat of all feeling. Polluting our gut not only impairs the immune system, but also destroys our sense of empathy – our ability to identify with other humans. Bad bacteria in the gut creates neurological issues which develop into unconscious sociological problems.

Those who think that feelings come from the heart are mistaking the true source of the physical body’s autonomic nervous system. It is in our gut where we first sense the loss of a loved one. It’s where we sense pain and the great bulk of our emotions.

Our gut is the central base of our entire immune system. If our gut is filled with negatively charged bacteria and toxins, it affects our mind, thus creating psychosomatic disorders.

With the stellium of planets in Leo/Virgo, we learn that our heart/mind is the seat of our conscience. We become awakened to see that when the mind becomes corrupted, it affects our greater conscience. The pineal gland and the astral body is ruled by Neptune, the excretory organs by Pluto, and the brain and nervous system (5 senses) by Mercury. This week’s yod to Mercury from both Neptune and Pluto powerfully highlights how what affects our mind affects the digestive organs, affects our connection to the entire universe within. So, if we poison the gut, it affects your entire nervous system, our entire sense of reasoning, and our higher and lower senses.

This week then marks a perfect time to consider a full mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual detox: Making a conscious effort to cleanse the mind, body and social contact list becomes imperative as we prepare to then form our intention for the Virgo New Moon (Aug 30). This is a special lunation in which all personal planets align with Sun and Moon in Virgo – a unique lunar cycle which will attune our mind/body to receive blessings, divine interventions, soul initiations, DNA activations, emotional support, and personal guidance across multiple planes of our perceived reality.

Blessings, and may you have an amazing week xx
