THE WEEK AHEAD: March 18-24

One thing is certain: Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus. Notwithstanding the infinitesimal percentage of our population with blurred gender and sexuality identity issues during this great Neptune in Pisces Age, most of us identify with these basic archetypal differences, both socially and biologically. We may be equal, but by no means the same.

Venus is primarily interested in developing relationships, complementary pairing, peace and harmony. Mars is primarily interested in asserting the individual ego onto its environment, impressing a definite claim on the things it assumes as an extension of the self, defending its competency, prowess and viability in the ‘race’, and in using whatever force necessary to maintain its separateness as an entity. These are the basic premises which ensure the survival and ongoing natural selection of our species.

By this standard, it would be fair to simplify and say: Men are into things while women are into people. It would also seem fair to postulate that the great imbalance that is occuring in our highly populated world today is due to the fact that our preoccupation with things: possessions, money, status, differences and permutations of choices on materials which we ‘believe’ are running scarce is creating an unhealthy atmosphere of competition, strife and unnecessary squabbling amongst humanity and its ‘stuff’. Venus might very well look at Mars these days and question: “Why can’t we all just get along?”

Indeed, it seems that our largely male-dominant survival-systems (government, corporations, religions, schools, parentings etc) have proliferated a culture of resource-scarcity and people-neglect. We are a planet so possessed with trying to get one over on the next fellow that we are now at a point of malignant discord.

This is the fundamental struggle today, seen so obtusely with the Venus/Mars square of this week. Socially aware VENUS in Aquarius desires to see progress and reform around her. Something has to change about the way we’re relating: the way things are between us (as people) is simply not fair and equitable enough and though she has kept a somewhat detached attitude thus far, her passivity is soon about to reach its limits.

Conservative MARS in Taurus will fight to keep things as they are. He gets defensive when his old, established views and methods of managing things are being challenged. He does not like change, ignoring what others want, deeming them idiots if they do not agree with what he values. He is quite prepared to bully and shut out anyone who threatens to cross him, especially if they hold views on matters which are different to his own, cherished ways.

A serious fight is looming. The exact square between VE/MA falls only hours after the EQUINOX (Mar 21). Both Venus and Mars are key players (as rulers of the Libra Moon (Venus) and Aries Sun (Mars). Both hold critical allies in this struggle. Venus in in sextile to truth-seeking Jupiter, while Mars forms trines to hard-nosed Saturn/Pluto. Both will exhaust every ounce of powder they have to muster in their egotistical battle to uphold their way. Being both fixed, flexibility is not an option.

Much may break in this monumental scuffle, and after all the tears and devastation, somehow, they will have to work it out. After all, they cannot live without each other.

Another thing that is emerging with the Saturn/Pluto in near conjunction is that we do not understand what we do not know, and in our willfully trained ignorance we push things further into the shadows because many things seem too ugly or difficult to deal with. Our culture thrives on banishing things like sex, power, ambition, money (things – ♂) into the realms of the mighty, the mysterious and the taboo. We are afraid to deal with them because they are deemed too personal and complex to confront with any degree of real transparency. So we are told to bury them away, told not go there and not ask questions as it presents a threat or an affront. There, they remain repressed and unchecked, where they foment in ways that develop in sheer aberration of our nature, erupting into conspiracy, crime, violence and abuse. For the most part, we not only allow those in power to stay unaccountable, but in some sense we glorify the success of those who can prove their dominance, both over people and things.

The instruments of oppression are well in place…

The phenomenal Supermoon, which peaks precisely at the Equinox (Mar 21), brings all this to a head this week, and marks a distinct turning point in the history of contemporary culture. Full Moons usually have the inimitable effect of dragging all our hidden crap out into the fore, let it be visible under the fullest light. And with SATURN/PLUTO at the S.Node, boy, do we have some crap…

…I mean all of us.

All of us carry the energies of Venus and Mars in our lower ego. All of us wish to maintain our survival. All of us understand the importance of maintaining some affiliation to our people, as well as managing the supply and maintenance of things we need in order to sustain our unique identity and security. Yet in this compartmentalised world, where we are groomed and shaped to play definite biologically and sociologically stereotypical roles, we have assigned the duty of maintaining a healthy balance to those “authorities” in charge of the big systems (presidents, CEO’s, teachers, ministers, etc). Who are these ‘people’, and why do they hold such power? Under the cloak of secrecy, lies, distortions and cover-ups anything goes. What we are witnessing, more and more, is that the results of their esteemed positions are producing ever more extreme aberrations in our world, ever more frequently and ever more in need of some serious healing

The SUN’s conjunction to CHIRON at the Aries Point comes as a sign of a great deliverance to all the nonsense and confusion. This highly intuitive source of light augurs the capacity for all humans to effortlessly cut through all the fluff and nonsense being pitched to us, and rams some shameful truths straight down the gullet of even the most hideous monster. Even the usually guileful, tactful Libra MOON cannot easily field his frightful truth-storms. She will work hard to restore things into some amicable semblance of restitution again.

Like a double edge sword, if what we hurl at others is not done in love but in darkness, the pain will cut both ways, and in direct proportion to the amount of force exerted.

This ARIES POINT lunation is the most critical here, for it’s not just us ‘daily joes’ whose slender necks may be on the block. 00°♈00′ is the MOST PROMINENT point in the entire horoscope, so it affects the big Goliaths and global Megaliths of our times. We must all face the music. Our planet is engulfed by a great shadow – that of our repressed desire to own, possess, control and manipulate the world around us to ensure our survival. We are obsessed by our things, and have neglected our connection to people. Our value system is severely unbalanced, and great questions now surmount about how we can find a solution to prevent our imminent destruction.

As more and more light descends on this planet, our capacity to look into the dark, shady areas is also improving. Nothing is too sacred to be spared the scrutiny applied when we shine pure, white light… as we’ve been seeing. Those eminent human-diva types; those who consistently fail to lead with love but work with darkness, perversion and secrecy must surely know that the moment of judgement must be nigh.

Let us start, not just with ourselves but with each other. Let us begin to question the motives and agendas of how we manage our own people and things. If we are not placing equal importance on managing these, then we will certainly see our crises become more and more intense, uncomfortable and frustratingly dysfunctional over this next 12 months. Too much/not enough Mars leads only to anti-social behaviour, defensiveness and war. Too much/not enough Venus leads to complacency, codependency and inert states of idealism.

Balance and unified effort is needed. We have all the tools necessary to assist us in putting light on what is not working between us and healing the matter.

Stuff to think about…

Blessings, and have an amazing week xx
