THE WEEK AHEAD: July 23-29

[pic: ”Long Wave” by david rokeby]
I know that the Sun is about to enter the dramatic constellations of Leo, but to say that this week is highly critical in our fundamental human development would sorely be an astrological understatement.

No, seriously… Aside from the significant outer-planetary contacts (♄ △ ♅,  ♄ □ Ch,  ♃ △ ♆), the clustering preponderance of ‘malefic’ planets (♂, ♄, ♇) in retrograde, including the spiritually significant ♆/Ch and, soon Mercury, this shapes up to be the hottest week, with the hottest event, possibly of this whole entire year. This Friday’s Blood Moon, visible in large parts of Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America will last for 103 minutes, making it the longest eclipse of the 21st century.

Not forgetting, this “mother of all Lunar Eclipses”, is flanked by the two Solar Eclipses, where both Moon (Cancer – July 13) and Sun (Leo – Aug 11) are in dignity (respectively).

However, there is nothing dignified nor respectable about how this flaringly red evening spectacle literally steals the show by leaving us angry, irritable and ready to blow at the slightest provocation. Total lunar eclipses are usually known as ‘Blood Moons’ anyway due to the reddish-orange glow of light reflected from the Moon’s surface, as refracted by Earth’s atmosphere during the course of the event.

On this swell evening, the Moon is at its farthest from the Earth, appearing smaller than ever (‘Micro-Moon’). The cold, unfeeling qualities of an Aquarius Moon, will hence be almost precisely conjunct an ultra-close, über-bright Mars on the South Node, signalling a time when the most unconscious, survival-driven impulses of human instinct will urge us to need to band together with others along ideological lines, mostly for the sake of our protection.

Yet, by Friday, July 27 (around 20:21 UTC), situations between us bubble and seethe to a critical mass, grunting and growling for change and reform, forcefully or angrily pushing for progress but arguably (since the whole thing hangs on the South Node) pulling us in ever more regressive, detached and divisive directions.

Strength and courage are necessary to maintain individual, heart-centred integrity and not become swept up in the tides of anger and blame and disagreements.

Of course the Mars will stir up arguments out of virtually nothing. Whoever’s charged up to disagree can easily sign up to fight a pitiless war under this moon. As the Sun enters Leo, egos flare and prides can be easily wounded. Grab your weapon of choice and get set to charge to the top of that hill. Just know that when you get there, neither party is likely to give an inch, because neither side is willing to see the others’ point of view. Mars is a lower, ego-attached force and whilst in retrograde, squaring Uranus, irritation grows interminably as each insists on being the righteous victor but for all the most mistimed and disproportionate motives. This effect remains toxically strong throughout Aug-Sep, so chose your battles well. Unfortunately, things only end after the fight escalates into a bitter, vitriolic war or someone hauls their bashed-up broken arse back into a miserable retreat.

Thanks to misunderstandings and selective misinterpretations of a situation, it’s very common to hear people say, ‘I disagree, or i’m offended by that’, as if this immediately gives them certain powers or rights. In most cases, people take offence over nothing at all. They are just looking for an excuse to start a scrap. It has absolutely no place and no meaning; Nor does it serve any purpose. It’s just a cry for love, attention, or validation.

People easily declare: ‘I am offended by that.’ Then they go off on an angry campaign to claim damages and reparation to their ego. In true essence, nobody cares any more. People being offended is actually none of our problem. We must develop the courage to tell them that they have no right, especially if they (in the first place) the have entered our space, listened in on our conversation, read our books, assessed our ideas, judged our choices and our special ways or philosophies. People become offended because it somehow suits them – it empowers them when they decide to take things personally. They get a heightened sense of entitlement to be upset or angry, either with us or with the world.

Instead, this world needs people who can stand up, like mature humans and do the work without stooping down to the proud, boorishly-whining lower furies of their ego complex. One thing this “internet culture” has created is cowardly trolls and social-justice keyboard warriors, whom if you met on the street would cower into ineffectiveness and impotence for their inability to string together two words of kindness, or come up with a constructive solution to their gripes.

It’s easier too, to hurl rocks at those who are not you. No need for sympathies there. Easy to wage war upon those who live across our way – those who think differently, believe differently, live in different ways. We don’t even need to know them. If things are stressed within us – if we are anxious, sad, angry, depressed, then this Blood Moon is the best of times to break treaties or cease-fires with all the neighbours. One sure way to make a name for ourselves in the schoolyard is to march straight up to the biggest bully and either gratuitously suck up to him (become his pet turtle), or punch him right in the eye…

RED FLAG ALERT – all the above is the kind of martial, low-vibe conduct that only aggresses, alienates and distances us from all those who might otherwise sympathise with us.

But why on earth is all this happening now??

Lunar Eclipses act upon our more dormant, unconscious side, stirring up emotional patterns that trace all the way back to incidents in our infantile or formative development. Something is stirred, and it’s kinda different for everyone.

For tribe members, I will (of course) be pulling the dynamics of this epic full moon eclipse apart during the course of all this week, observing the key ingredients in our cosmic bus videos (see here on how to sign up) and issuing special horoscope messages for each sign. Also, I will be further developing our lunation meditation and (weather-permitting) hope to cover the lunar eclipse live with my team Friday/Saturday morning (AEST). Please stay tuned for updates, both here and on facebook.
